Privacy Policy

We care about your privacy. This policy explains what data ARIANNA processes and how it is handled.

Google User Data Accessed

When you connect your Google Account to enable Drive sync, ARIANNA accesses the following Google user data:

  • Google Drive Files: Access to create, read, update, and delete files in a dedicated app folder (A.R.I.A.N.N.A._Backups) in your Google Drive. This access is limited to files created by ARIANNA only.
  • Email Address: Your Google account email address, used to identify which account is connected to the extension.

How Google User Data is Used

ARIANNA uses the Google user data it accesses as follows:

  • Google Drive Files:
    • Creates and stores bookmark backup files (JSON format) in your personal Google Drive app folder
    • Reads backup files to restore your bookmarks when requested
    • Manages backup versions by creating new backups and deleting old ones (up to a configurable limit)
    • All file operations are restricted to the app-specific folder created by ARIANNA
  • Email Address:
    • Displayed in the extension interface to show which Google account is currently connected
    • Used for authentication and authorization purposes only
    • Not stored, shared, or used for any other purpose

Google User Data Storage and Processing

  • Backup files are stored directly in your Google Drive account in an app-specific folder that you control
  • OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's encrypted storage (AES-GCM encryption)
  • No Google user data is transmitted to or stored on external servers operated by ARIANNA
  • All data processing occurs locally in your browser or through direct API calls to Google services
  • You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting your Google account in the extension settings or through your Google Account settings

Data we access

  • Bookmarks: read and write to your browser's native bookmarks to save, restore, and organize.
  • Google Drive (optional): if you connect your Google Account, ARIANNA stores backups in your personal Drive app folder.

Data storage

  • Local: configuration and state are stored using Chrome extension storage on your device.
  • Cloud: backups are stored in your own Google Drive. We do not operate external databases for your content.

Data sharing

We do not sell or share your bookmarks or backups. Access to Google Drive is limited to the app folder and scoped by your consent.

Analytics

No third‑party analytics are used by default. If this changes, we will update this page and request consent where required.

Permissions

ARIANNA requests only the permissions necessary to manage bookmarks and, if enabled, interact with your Google Drive backups.

Retention and control

You can remove local data by uninstalling the extension and delete backups directly from your Google Drive at any time.
